Role
Product logic, UX, interface design, interface development
Scope
7 screens: panel, balance, objects, priorities, forecast, alerts, mobile control

Task

Offices, shops, warehouses, restaurants and residential co-ops live on a blackout schedule. An owner needs to see each site's power state from a phone and decide: start the generator, shed circuits, or ride it out on the battery.

Key decision

The key number of an energy system is not kilowatts but autonomy: how many hours the site holds at the current load. Every screen is built around that answer.

Proof 01

Fleet of sites

Six sites in different cities in one list. A site without grid rises to the top, together with its charge, load and generator state. You see where the diesel is already running and where the battery still holds.

What it showsFleet monitoring and scale across many sites.

Proof 02

Load-shedding queue

Circuits are ranked by importance: refrigeration and the till hold, air conditioning is shed first. A line shows what switches off when the grid drops, and how shedding comfort extends autonomy from 5:42 to nearly nine hours.

What it showsComplex interaction: priorities, dragging, consequences made visible.

Proof 03

Autonomy forecast

One large statement — 'at the current load, 5h 42m' — with scenarios beside it: with the generator, critical only, a night without sun. A chart shows the charge decline for each and the 20% mark where the diesel kicks in.

What it showsData in service of a decision: a forecast that answers the owner's question.

Proof 04

Event stream

Grid loss, charge below 20%, generator needs service — every site in one timeline with a severity level. A selected event opens its detail and an action: schedule the service, not just dismiss the alert.

What it showsUX for critical alerts: the important shows first, the action sits next to the cause.

System

Energy balance across the day

One chart shows where power came from each hour: areas of grid, solar and battery stack exactly under the consumption line. The 12:04–16:02 outage was covered by sun and battery — the generator was not needed, and you see it without reading a single number.

What was made

  • Object model: grid, battery, solar, generator, load in one state
  • 7 interface screens plus mobile control
  • Site control panel with an autonomy metric
  • Day energy-balance chart with every source
  • Emergency mode with a load-shedding queue
  • Autonomy forecast with scenarios and a charge projection
  • Visual system: a dark instrument, three signal colours, mono numerals
